A HELPFUL GUIDE TO WRITING A RESUME

The "bullet point" resume has been very successful with Human Resources and Managers because the "buzz" words of your specialty stand out making them easier to see. Of course, there are many different formats that can be used for writing a resume; however, the one below is a very useful, clean, and popular format. If you wish to use this format, please feel free to copy the resume below and paste it onto a Word document. Once you have created the document, it is a simple matter to substitute your information for that on the resume.

This is an example resume only, but it highlights bullet points, capitalization, and bold lettering. Because most bullets are not full sentences, bullets can be fragments that clearly state the skill, achievement, or management style you wish to convey.

In listing your skills, be thorough for each position. Don't assume certain skills are a given. Be sure to mention if you supervised managers or employees and also how many of each you oversaw. Include any direct reports you had responsibility for and to whom you answered. If you produced verifiable savings, list them. If you received any awards or achieved specific goals, list them. Most resumes are two pages or more. Many IT resumes may be much longer. A one page resume is no longer the norm. This allows you to make fonts larger and add white space for spacing and definition.

Recruiting Resources hopes this example resume and writing tips are helpful. Ultimately, a well formatted resume is just another step in how Recruiting Resources can help both our Candidates and our Clients in fulfilling their needs.
